Nature-based Solutions Initiative

This is a new programme of research, policy advice and education aimed at increasing the implementation of Nature-based Solutions through the application of science. Current work focuses on collating scientific information on Nature-based Solutions for climate change adaptation and making this more accessible to decision makers through this platform. We also assess the role of Nature-based Solutions in climate change policy, with a focus on the adaptation plans of all signatories of the Paris Agreement.

SUSTAINABLE CITIES PLATFORM

The European Sustainable Cities Platform was launched in 2016, following the 8th European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns in the Basque Country. Supported by the City of Aalborg, Denmark; the Basque Country, and ICLEI Europe, it focuses on the uptake of The Basque Declaration, which is the main outcome of the 8th European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns.

Natural Hazards Nature-based Solutions

The Natural Hazards – Nature-based Solutions platform is a hub for projects, investments, guidance and studies making use of nature to reduce the risks associated with natural hazards. Our objective is to host and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and lessons learned from a range of stakeholders, to provide guidance on the planning and implementation of nature-based solutions, and to champion these solutions in the arenas of policy-making and investment for disaster risk reduction.
